Welcome to the StrongerMind Assembly!
Thank you for checking out this forum. I'm Christian Fisher. I've created the StrongerMind Assembly as something we can all share. My goal here is to bring you the newest and best psychological discoveries, tools, and insights in engaging and easy-to-digest ways. Through cool videos, articles, and downloadable products, you'll get exclusive interviews and leading-edge research to help you grow stronger and sharper than the stresses you face.
I've been studying and writing professionally about stress, resilience, and personal growth for more than 15 years. My LinkedIn profile will tell you more about that. I'm NOT a psychologist or health professional. I am a published author and journalist with a passion for psychology, self-actualization, and mind/body fitness that spans almost two decades. My life, however, has required much resilience. I'm probably not much different from you in that I've had many personal and professional limits, setbacks, rejections, and failures that I've had to endure.
It was a tragedy in 1994 that ignited something in my mind that still fuels me today. I started writing about personal growth and inner strength just months after my 13-year old brother left a note for my mother one morning in 1994. He then left the house in the pre-dawn hours and went to a cliff. He jumped to his death. The next morning, everyone was called about the note, and the hunt for my brother began. A couple hours later, my father, one of my sisters, and I found my brother's broken body.
If I want to relive that experience today, I can summon the memory of my father's primal scream at the site of his son or the out-of-body experience I felt like I was having on that day. I can summon up the emotions of breaking the news to my mother, or the image of my sisters carrying to my mom one of my brother's shoes, which was picked up near his body. I can still bring all of the sights, sounds, and emotions to the surface in vivid detail, if I choose to. However, I can also bring to the surface every lesson, change, relationship, and realization that has emerged in my life and within our family since that tragic day. I grieved, but then I committed to growth. I learned how to remember my brother without being owned by the horror of his death. Because I was able to help myself through personal growth, it wasn't long before I wanted to help and inspire others. Since writing was one strength of mine, writing about strength became my passion. That passion has been burning in me ever since.
Over the years, I've learned that resilience doesn't make us flawless. Having a strong mind doesn't make us invulnerable or unbreakable. Instead, being strong and resilient means always learning, always facing real life, and always adapting to change. Life is a journey full of a variety of stresses and happenings that we can't always anticipate. The more rigid, limited, and routine our thinking is, the weaker we are at ebbing and flowing with change.
At 43 years old, I haven't done all that I want to yet. I haven't given all that I can. I haven't unleashed all that is inside me waiting to ignite into the world. And no matter what age you are right now -- no matter where you are in life -- you might feel a similar way. You probably already sense that, in many ways, you are stronger than you think you are, but you still see limits. Know this: You ARE already a survivor, and most limits you see today are temporary if you want them to be. Bringing out the best within you to break down the barriers you face is what StrongerMind Media is about.
You can get to know more about me over time by becoming a member of this forum. I want to get to know you. More importantly, as a member, you'll get to know others committed to breaking through their own limits, adapting to their adversities, and transcending their struggles. Where you seek a breakthrough, they may have solutions. Where they're stuck, your stories and insights may give them new light. I hope you'll be a part of this; a growing community of resilient survivors and self-actualizers both learning to break through their personal and professional limits...and helping others do the same. Welcome to OUR StrongerMind Assembly!
